A Note from the EDCC Board Chair
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Economic Development Council of Colorado’s (EDCC) Board of Directors, conference steering committee and staff, I want to thank you for your commitment to attend the 2023 Drive|Lead|Succeed Conference in Grand Junction.
With education a pillar of EDCC’s mission, allow me to open this welcom with some points of grammar. According to Merriam-Webster, a “junction” is “a place or point of meeting,” an “intersection of roads,” “a point at which dissimilar metals make contact” and “an interface in a semiconductor device between regions with different electrical characteristics.”
So, it is more than appropriate that our theme for this year’s event is “Junc-tion,” as Drive|Lead|Succeed will represent an intersection of economic development leaders with dissimilar perspectives from communities and industries with wildly different characteristics. Nowhere else will you find a better opportunity to collaborate and connect with a greater diversity of peers, business professionals, policy experts and others with a stake in an economically healthy Colorado.
Switching subjects to geography, I can’t think of a better location for this conference – symbolically and practically – than Grand Junction, the beautiful and lively convergence point of the Colorado and Gunnison rivers. Our conference agenda provides plenty of local color, offering everything from compelling Grand Valley location tours to sessions on such fundamental West Slope topics as land use and the impact of the tourism and recreation industries. The chock-full schedule will also address such critical statewide issues as housing, entrepreneurship, data trends and leadership development.
Thank you in advance to all the speakers and presenters who are contributing their valuable time and expertise to bring this agenda alive. And thank you to the sponsoring organizations without whose support EDCC could never offer its members such a rewarding mix of networking and learning opportunities. Drive|Lead|Succeed is truly a junction of generosity and dedication coming together to benefit all of Colorado.
We are excited to see you here in Grand Junction, and please be sure to fully engage throughout the week. We will all be stronger for coming together!
