We know that to take the next step in your career, you sometimes need a little support. EDCC provides scholarships on a limited basis to EDCC Members who demonstrate financial need. Scholarships to the semi-annual conferences and to the Basic Economic Development Course are available and are considered on a case-by-case basis.
If you are interested in pursuing a scholarship, submit an application and our Professional Development Committee will review your request based on our policies and the availability of funds. We will notify you once the application has been reviewed. For scholarship reimbursement, please contact Kim Woodworth.
The scholarship program has been identified by the Professional Development Committee as a valuable tool to assist economic developers and/or practitioners with educational and professional development. There are three (3) different scholarships in this program. Please read the application carefully to insure that you are applying for the scholarship that best fits your needs.
Eligibility, criteria and information for the three (3) scholarships:
Applicant must be a member of EDCC in good standing.
All scholarship applications must be submitted electronically at least six weeks prior to the program date.
This scholarship is for professional development opportunities in the economic development industry including: classes accredited with the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), Economic Development Institute (EDI), Business Retention Expansion (BRE), Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC), CEcD Training Course, National Development Council (NDC), and Council of Development Finance Agencies (CDFA). Scholarships are limited to the availability of funds.
I. Applicant can receive only one professional development/education scholarship per calendar year.
II. All travel, additional food, hotel, etc. will be the responsibility of the applicant.
III. Please attach a copy of the proposed agenda for the training.
This scholarship is designed to assist members with the opportunity to attend an EDCC spring or fall conference. There are two (2) scholarships awarded per conference in a calendar year with a maximum award of $250 each.
I. Applicant can receive only one EDCC conference registration scholarship within a 3-year period with membership.
II. Applications are due at least six weeks before conference date.
III. Extra consideration will be given to applicants that are: a. New members of EDCC; b. First time applicant for the organization; and/or c. First time applicant for the employee.
IV. All travel, additional food, hotel, etc. will be the responsibility of the applicant.
V. After you have received the scholarship, please complete the conference registration form @ www.edcconline.org.
This scholarship is designed to assist small, rural communities attend EDCC annual conferences. There are ten (4) scholarships per calendar year with a maximum award of $100.
I. Rural communities is defined as communities that serve a population of less than 25,000
II. Applicant can receive one rural travel assistance scholarship every third conference.
