Today, Colorado Creative Industries (CCI), a division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), announced the FY2023 recipients of the Colorado Creates Grant Program. A total of 121 grants will distribute $834,500 to arts organizations and communities across 28 Colorado counties, including Routt, La Plata, Weld and Pueblo counties.
Margaret Hunt, Director of CCI, says, “Now more than ever, the arts create community and bring people together to experience joy and celebration. Colorado Creates grants provide critical support to arts and cultural organizations across the state as they provide these opportunities. Over time, we have also seen that these grants position recipients to apply for and receive additional funding, extending the impact even further. We’re proud to help communities bring their visions to life.”
In this grant cycle, 46% of grant funds were awarded to rural communities, and the recipient category that received the highest number of grants represented Colorado’s smallest arts and cultural organizations—those operating with less than $100,000 annually.
Colorado Creates is CCI’s oldest grant program, providing critical financial support to nonprofit cultural organizations and government agencies of all sizes as they produce arts and cultural activities that enhance quality of life and bring jobs to their communities. As part of the award, grant recipients will be eligible for a second round of funding within 12 months after submitting a mid-cycle report. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis and the next application deadline for Colorado Creates is spring 2023.
