Basic Economic Development | Courses in the West

Course Overview

The BEDC course provides a substantial introduction to the theory and fundamentals of comprehensive economic development. The formal instruction emphasizes beneficial development that can result from the constructive actions of local leaders and revolves around five major themes: innovative community development concepts; regional economics; basic factors in development; techniques of economic development and trends in economic development.

Registration Information:

Pricing includes instructors and accreditation by IEDC. Anyone interested in becoming certified needs to complete this course before moving on. A certificate of completion will be provided to all those who attended and participated in each section of this training. 

**The Basic Economic Development Course manual is highly recommended if you plan to sit for the CEcD exam. If you are interested in purchasing the manual, please select the appropriate cart item so that we can have it available for you on the first day of class.

Parking Information:

Street parking is available. It is metered with a two-hour limit. The cost is $2 per hour. After the two-hour time limit, the vehicle must be moved 100 feet to a new space.  The Larimer Square Parking Garage is located on Market Street between 14th and 15th (1450 Larimer St). The rates are $2 per 15 minutes, $25 maximum.

There are 3 outdoor parking lots located one block from the Chamber.

  • Central Parking System (yellow sign) at Larimer & 14th – $6 per hour, $12 maximum
  • Central Parking System (yellow sign) at Market & Speer – $12 flat rate
  • Public Parking (blue sign) at Market & Speer – $10 flat rate

This scholarship is for professional development opportunities in the economic development industry including: classes accredited with the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), Economic Development Institute (EDI), Business Retention Expansion (BRE), Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC), CEcD Training Course, National Development Council (NDC), Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute (OU EDI), and the Council of Development Finance Agencies (CDFA). Scholarships are limited to the availability of funds.

  • Applicant must be a member in good standing.
  • Applicant can receive only one professional development/education scholarship per calendar year.
  • All travel, additional food, hotel, etc. will be the responsibility of the applicant.
  • Please attach a copy of the proposed agenda for the training.
