Scott has over 17 years of diverse experience in community and economic development, public policy formation, and citizen engagement. Under his leadership, Durango’s Community Development Department has successfully evolved into a multi-faceted, high-performing Department working with citizens and a diverse mix of partner organizations to shape the future of this amazing community. He led the formation of the Durango Renewal Partnership, Durango’s Urban Renewal Authority, to spur redevelopment and reinvestment to address community priorities. He recently facilitated the creation of the City’s Housing Innovation Division within the Community Development Department and brought in over $4.1M of external funding for housing initiatives. He has facilitated improvements to the development review process and led the creation of Durango’s nationally-recognized Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) program. Scott and his wife, Jenny, have two children and have lived in Durango for ten years. Outside of the office, Scott enjoys coaching his son’s baseball team, writing, and wandering through the mountains.
