Wendi Nafziger

Wendi Nafziger is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and is the Economic Development Administrator for the City of Thornton.  She has worked in the economic development field for more than 40 years.  Wendi graduated from Skyline High School in Longmont and participated in the Career Development Center’s Business Program throughout high school.  She completed her basic economic development course in 1995 and received her Certified Economic Developer designation in 2000.  Wendi joined the City of Thornton in January 2024.  Prior to that she was with the City of Commerce City for 3 years and the Longmont Economic Development Partnership for over 35 years.  She is a current  board member and former treasurer on the Economic Development Council of Colorado, and a member of the International Economic Development Council, was the 2001 president of the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame, a former member and treasurer of the Longmont Twin Peaks Rotary, a former board member and treasurer of Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley.

In 1997 Wendi was recognized as Business Partner of the Year by the St. Vrain Valley School District.  Wendi was also recognized as the 2001 Affiliate of the Year and 2005 Citizen of the Year by the Longmont Association of Realtors.  In 2007 Wendi was presented with the “Women of Distinction Award” by the Girl Scouts; and in 2009 she received the “LeMoyne Monson 4 Way Test Award” from Twin Peaks Rotary.  Most recently Wendi was recognized with the “Economic Development Achievement Award” from the Economic Development Council of Colorado
