Meghan More, Early Childhood Recruitment & Retention Administrator, Colorado Department of Early Childhood

Before landing her role at the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, Meghan More had most recently been a Mentor Teacher at Colorado State University’s Lab Preschool–the Early Childhood Center (ECC). Her role included educating a young toddler classroom with up to 10 one-year-olds daily. In addition, she mentored intern and practicum undergraduate students to become early childhood teachers through a combination of in-person modeling/instruction, and weekly online content delivery. Meghan worked in collaboration with other Mentor Teachers at the ECC to create and deliver relevant content relating to child development and constructivist teaching and learning.

Meghan also served on the Board for the Colorado chapter of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Meghan had volunteered for COAEYC since 2019 on the Advocacy and Policy Committee. In the fall of 2020, Meghan moved into a Board position and served on the Communications Board Committee, as well as the Workforce/Professional Development State Committee. Meghan’s term with COAEYC ended in June of 2022.

Meghan earned a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from Colorado State University in 2014. Meghan earned her M.A. in Education & Human Development–Early Childhood Education from CU Denver in 2017. She is interested in ECE systemic issues and has recently co-authored and published a qualitative narrative analysis journal article with a colleague focusing on “power & discourse; resistance & compliance”. Currently, Meghan is enrolled at CU Denver in a doctoral program studying Education and Human Development: Critical Studies in Education. Meghan is passionate about advocacy and has volunteer experience working with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Meghan wants to push the field forward and work towards building a culture of respect and high regard for early childhood education that is apparent in teacher compensation, the right to admittance to care, and the ease of access to community-defined, high-quality programs.

In her free time, Meghan spends time with her family in Northern Colorado: her partner, Chris, baby, Ruby, and Bernedoodle, Curry! She enjoys live music, is an avid Denver Nuggets fan, and loves to travel.
