Governor Polis and the Business Funding and Incentives (BF&I) division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced that HemCS United, Inc., a provider of customized Electronic Manufacturing Services, plans to expand in Alamosa, Colorado, with support from the Rural Jump-Start program. As the U.S. subsidiary of Switzerland-based Hemar Group, HemCS United will establish a U.S. Operations and Manufacturing division in Alamosa.
“Colorado is growing and businesses are taking notice. I am excited to welcome HemCS United to Alamosa. Investing in our rural communities makes our entire state stronger. By joining the Rural Jump-Start Program, HemCS United will help bolster electronics manufacturing, create good-paying rural jobs and support the local economy in southern Colorado,” said Governor Jared Polis.
Through HemCS United, the company is expanding its electronics manufacturing services to the U.S., including engineering and design services, prototyping and production, and advanced testing. The company provides customized Electronic Manufacturing Services for clients in the medical technology, defense, industrial automation and consumer electronics fields. In addition to its expansion in Alamosa, HemCS United currently has an engineering headquarters in downtown Denver.
“We are excited to establish HemCS United in Alamosa and become part of the San Luis Valley community. The Rural Jump-Start Program made it possible for us to bring advanced electronics manufacturing to a region with tremendous potential,” said Patrick Schaer, HemCS United Owner and CEO. “Our goal is to create high-quality jobs and build a long-term presence here while supporting innovative companies that need reliable engineering and production partners. We’re proud to invest in rural Colorado and look forward to growing alongside the local workforce and business community.”
The Rural Jump-Start program encourages economic development and job creation in economically distressed, rural counties of Colorado. This funding supports regional economic and workforce development activities that seek to expand local business, create new good-paying jobs, and strengthen and diversify local economies. The company will receive $15,000 in grant funding to support the launch of its operations and eligible employees will also receive a state personal income tax exemption.
Sponsoring entities like San Luis Valley Development Resources Group help identify business candidates in their communities and work with each business to help ensure its success in the program and in the community.
“The Rural Jump-Start program supports the goals of Colorado’s local communities and creates new jobs across the state. We are thrilled to see HemCS United come to southern Colorado and today’s announcement highlights our state’s continued commitment to innovation and diversification of our economy,” said Eve Lieberman, OEDIT Executive Director.
“We are honored to support HemCS United as they pursue state funding to establish this innovative industry in the San Luis Valley,” said Sarah Stoeber, Executive Director of the San Luis Valley Development Resources Group. “While the company considered sites outside of Colorado, we are thrilled they ultimately chose Alamosa as their home. Their investment represents an exciting opportunity to diversify our regional economy, bringing new revenue streams and high-quality job opportunities to the Valley. We look forward to supporting HemCS United’s continued success through available state and local incentives.”
