City of Littleton Named 2025 ‘Medium Community of the Year’ at EDIE Awards

City of Littleton Honored with Medium Community of the Year Award at EDCC’s 2025 EDIE Awards

Pueblo, CO — October 28, 2025 — The Economic Development Council of Colorado (EDCC) presented the Medium Community of the Year Award to the City of Littleton during its annual Drive|Lead|Succeed Conference in Pueblo. The EDIE Awards recognize excellence in economic development and celebrate leaders and communities shaping Colorado’s economic future.

The City of Littleton was recognized for its comprehensive approach to economic development, strategic investment, and support for local businesses. The city’s newly approved Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), developed with broad community input and unanimously adopted by the City Council, provides a roadmap for regional positioning, business vitality, and workforce development. Alongside this, Littleton implemented an Economic Partnership Incentive Policy, ensuring transparent and effective deployment of development incentives.

Leveraging these policies, the city executed a major redevelopment project in a strategic corridor, bringing 370 new multifamily units and two major anchor tenants to the area. This targeted investment strengthens Littleton’s economic base and sets the stage for long-term growth and vibrancy.

In addition, Littleton continues to support its small business community through direct financial programs, grants, and cashback rewards initiatives that encourage local spending — helping sustain the city’s “Citizen Heroes,” the entrepreneurs who drive daily economic activity and community vitality.

“The City of Littleton has set a high standard for strategic, community-driven economic development,” said Adam Kruegar, EDCC Board Chair. “Their thoughtful planning and commitment to both redevelopment and small business support show how mid-sized cities can thrive through vision and collaboration.”

“Littleton’s approach demonstrates the true essence of economic development — balancing innovation with inclusion,” said Kim Woodworth, EDCC Executive Director. “Their comprehensive strategy not only fosters business growth but also strengthens the sense of place that makes Colorado’s communities so special.”

Hosted annually by EDCC, the EDIE Awards honor the people, programs, and partnerships that exemplify innovation, collaboration, and impact in economic development across Colorado.
