SOPHiA GENETICS Selects Colorado as Strategic R&D Expansion Hub

International health tech innovator SOPHiA GENETICS has selected Aurora, Colorado as home to its new R&D hub to support its rapid North American expansion. Approved for a Job Growth Incentive tax credit as Project Crystal in January’s Economic Development Commission meeting, SOPHiA GENETICS becomes the newest global company to choose Colorado.

“SOPHiA GENETICS’ R&D hub is a great addition to Colorado’s vibrant bioscience cluster,” said OEDIT Global Business Director Michelle Hadwiger. “Colorado’s domestic and global accessibility offers the ideal geographic location to efficiently service SOPHiA GENETICS’ expansive network of 1000+ hospitals in 82 countries. Their forecasted talent needs are quality jobs that align strongly with Colorado’s highly-educated workforce.”

Founded in 2011, SOPHiA GENETICS is a health tech company democratizing Data-Driven Medicine to improve health outcomes and economics worldwide. The company’s innovative approach, recognized by the MIT Technology Review’s “50 Smartest Companies”, unlocks the power of new-generation health data for cancer and rare diseases management. Trusted by more than 1,000 healthcare institutions in 82 countries, SOPHiA GENETICS has created the world’s first collective intelligence for healthcare. So far, they’ve assisted the expert analysis of half a million patients’ genomic profiles globally, a unique accomplishment for their combined community.

“Our rapid market growth in the US is attributable to our ability to connect gaps that exist in the global medical industry by democratizing Data-Driven Medicine,” said SOPHiA GENETICS General Manager North America Kevin Puylaert. “Now, Denver and the great analytical minds we hire here will help us propel this mission forward. The central location of our new Colorado facility enhances our ability to serve new and existing US-based partners regardless of time zone.”

With headquarters in both Lausanne, Switzerland and Boston, the company now sees Colorado as the ideal choice to further boost its US expansion, grow its Data Science and IT teams, and build a GMP lab.

SOPHiA GENETICS expects to reach its goal of 100 Aurora employees by 2022 and will begin its talent recruitment with a Denver event from March 30 – April 3, 2020. To learn more, interested applicants can visit sophiagenetics.com.
