EDCC Member in the News – Alex Roguff, City of Durango

Durango staff member recognized by state organization for outstanding economic development contributions

Alex Rugoff, business development and redevelopment coordinator with the city of Durango, was honored by the Economic Development Council of Colorado with the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award at the EDCC’s Annual Meeting and Economic Development Awards ceremony Nov. 18.

Rugoff was recognized for his work on establishing Durango’s first Urban Renewal Authority, a redevelopment and economic development tool which passed with unanimous City Council support, and for his ability to collaborate with a variety of key stakeholders.

The EDCC Rookie of the Year award encourages new professionals who have demonstrated exceptional ability and performance in the field of economic development.

Rugoff serves on the Region 9 Board of Directors and the EDCC Policy Committee. He works closely with Fort Lewis College, the Chamber of Commerce, Local First, the Downtown Durango Business Improvement District and the La Plata Economic Development Alliance.
