Employee Ownership Office Partners with Exit Planning Institute to Launch Owner Readiness Survey

The Colorado Employee Ownership Office at the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) has partnered with the Exit Planning Institute (EPI) to launch the 2022 Colorado State of Owner Readiness survey.

This survey will identify the current readiness of business owners to transition. It will serve as an opportunity for businesses to audit their own readiness, for economic development partners to identify areas to better serve our businesses and for local communities across Colorado to be aware of potentially significant changes to their economic landscape.

The survey is now open and Colorado business owners are encouraged to participate in this study. No personal contact information is collected as all individual responses are anonymous and confidential. This study poses 44 questions and takes less than 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The survey is currently anticipated to close on March 11, 2022 with a potential extension to allow for the highest response rate possible.

Economic development organizations and other partners across the state are encouraged to share the survey directly with the businesses they serve to promote higher response rates and in turn, more accurate data in the owner readiness report this spring. Partners who would like to promote this survey are able to use the promotional toolkit to include information in newsletters, social media and direct email outreach.

“We are excited to launch the 2022 Colorado State of Owner Readiness survey and enthusiastic to uncover the landscape of exit planning readiness in Colorado,” says Nikki Maloney, interim Director of Business Support & Rural Prosperity at OEDIT. “We are hopeful that with the support of partners across the state and buy-in from business owners statewide, we will be able to reach diverse businesses of all industries, sizes and locations to have a truly robust report to offer our community this spring.”

The Exit Planning Institute will host a brief informational session on Thursday, February 17 at 11 a.m. MST to inform partners how to best promote the survey and utilize the promotional toolkit. For questions regarding the informational session or this survey at large, please contact the Colorado Employee Ownership Office at ColoradoEO@state.co.us.

This survey was made possible in partnership with key members of  the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Exit Planning Institute: Cresset Capital, Denver Agency Insurance Design, EOS Worldwide, Mile High Sales Solutions, Newport Advisors, Quist Valuation, Ready for Next Advisors, RWO Law, SDR Ventures, SES ESOP Strategies and Wealth Point.
