Economic development is a process that is strengthened by the critical partnership between economic development professionals and local and state government leadership to promote a shared vision for developing resilient communities.
This year the collaborative campaign will focus on what Colorado does best, “collaboration.” Colorado has celebrated a long history of collaboration among its top officials, business leaders, and advocacy groups. It is what is at the heart of Colorado’s economic success. Studies show the communities that support cross-functional collaboration have a higher rate of success then those that are siloed.
In a recent survey conducted by OEDIT, 190 national and international business leaders were surveyed on what key drivers they look at when it comes to operating a business in a certain location. Among the 13 key drivers that were surveyed, the community’s reputation for success and credibility as a good place to do business and collaboration among peer CEO’s, companies, and business leaders, ranked in the top three for most important drivers in doing business in a community.
Economic developers across the State cultivate and nurture entrepreneurship that helps to secure the next generation of new businesses, working in partnership with industries, brokers, educators and other key allies to foster an effective business climate and meet the increasingly critical need for a skilled and competitive workforce.
