The Grand Junction Economic Partnership (GJEP) is pleased to announce that two Colorado west slope businesses, ProStar Geocorp and Proximity, have been selected to participate in the inaugural “Tech Madness Bracket” by ColoradoInno, an organization focused on promoting a statewide innovation ecosystem.
According to ColoradoInno’s website, the Tech Madness Bracket is a March Madness-style competition where 16 of “Colorado’s brightest startups” are pitted head-to-head until only one startup remains. Voting is open to the public, who are asked to choose which companies they would be most likely to invest in – companies with the most votes move on to the next round.
ProStar Geocorp is no stranger to statewide and national recognition. The company was part of the inaugural class of startups accepted into the Rural JumpStart Tax Credit program, awarded to businesses that offer a new service or technology within the state. The same year (2016), ProStar Geocorp founder Page Tucker won the APEX Entrepreneur Excellence Award. Since then, the company has regularly been recognized as a promising startup for its proprietary geospatial intelligence software and is now poised to become Grand Junction’s first publicly traded company.
Proximity is a global all-in-one coworking software company with western Colorado roots dedicated to supporting the mobile workforce. Proximity started with the idea of connecting the remote workers of Montrose, Ridgway and Grand Junction with coworking spaces in each city. The founders of Proximity searched high and low for a software/hardware solution to manage their spaces and came up short so they decided to create their own. It didn’t take long for other spaces in the country to start asking to use this solution and Proximity was born. Now this booming tech company, named a 2018 Colorado Company to Watch, has grown to over 30 employees and boasts a network of connected, independent spaces all over the world.
